Ohristohukoh. September 4. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance of buyers for all classes of stock. Cattle. — There was a limited entry of beef, included m which was a considerable quantity of inferior quality. The demand for the best beef wbb therefore better than
has been the case of late, and as high as 20a per lOOlbs was obtained for several lines, while tbe Bale of inferior and cow beef dragged considerably. Store cattle inoluded a
magnifioent lina of 300 head from Mr J. G. Murray, the well-known Lincoln faxmar, wbioh realised better prices than were anticipated, three and four year old steers going from £4 to £5 10s', and young stock m I proportion, every hoof being cleared satisfactorily. Dairy oowa also found a good market, np to £7 15a being obtained. Sheep. — There was again a large antry of fat sheep, over 8000 being penned. The quality generally showed an improvement on last week's entry, and prices obtained throughout the sale were equal, if not superior. Prime quality freezers were again muoh Bought after, while the bntohera' demands were also very considerable. Best quality mutton for export realised well on to 2£d per lb; while merino and inferior brought equal to lid per lb. There was a email entry ol this season's lambs whioh sold freely from 7s to 14s. A few lines of store sheep were sold — Merino wethers from 5s to 6s 6d; orossbred eweßto 8s 6d; merino ewes, 48 9d; and 550 orossbred hoggets at 7b 9dr
Pias. — The entry was a large one, inoluding a number of prime baoonera wbioh were from 63 to 8* cheaper than recently.
