INTERVIEW WITH MR HANNAY. This morning a number of gentlemen Interested m the train arrangements, waited on Mr Hannay, Railway Commlaa'oner, with referonoa thereto. The meeting was arranged by Mr E. G Wright at whoEe aaggeatlon Mr Haanay arreed to visit Aabburton, and ascertain the general opinion m reference to the , alterailona recently made In the. times of running the trains. Mr Wright desired it to be understood that it was not Ashburtpn alone which had to be considered, beoausethe interests of tbe obuntry settlers were entitled to equal consideration, Mr Bullock snid that the opinion of those who travelled by these trains iraa that the early morning train should arrive m Christohurch by ten o'clook, and the evening train leave there as near four oolook as poisible, and as there was no stopping place between Burnham and Chrlstchuroh the train cou'd make up time between those stations, getting into Ashburton before the express left, thus avoiding, the tedious wait at Dromore He agreed with tbe Mayor that If a morning t'tfin could be run to Timaru it would be very convenient. Mr Hannay expressed his pleasure at having had the opportunity, through Mr Wright, of meeting those present and hearing their viewa.
