Hobabt, August 22. The Premier concurs m the proposal that Thursday Island be garrisoned by Imperial troops, at the charge of all the Australasian colonies. He regards the defence of St. George's Sound as of little importance compared with Hobart, which lies nearest Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and New Zealand.
