Further information received from Noumea leads to the belief that the two Frenchmen, Lebel and Fumaroli, were murdered by Rossi, with whom they were on bad terms. H.M.S. Opal and a French gunboat are making inquiries m the matter.

The magnificent stables connected with the Warwick Farm Racing Club have been destroyed by fire. A large number of valuable Australian horses were quartered m the stables, but all were got out safely. The stables were owned by the Hon. W. A. Long.
