The insurances on the steamer Maitai, so far as ascertained, are: — Alliance Marine, £1150 on cargo ; New Zealand about £2000 on cargo, £500 on hall ; South British, £500 on ball, less than £200 on cargo ; National, £250 on hull, probably £500 on cargo ; Union, £245 on cargo ; Colonial probably £500 on hull. The offioial enquiry into the oircumstances attending the wreok of the Maitai waa held tOday before Dr Giles, 8.M., and Captain Praser, Nautical Assessor. The evidence of Captain Dawson, W. Millar (first officer), O. Ansell (seoond officer), and others was heard, and they expressed the opinion that the rook upon whioh the vessel Btruok was nob marked oa the ohart. The Benoh reserved their deoision until Saturday.
