THE RAID ON GAMBLING CLUBS-
[Pru I'bhss Association,] (Received May 16, 12 43 p.m.) , London, May 14. It has transpired m connection with the recent raids on gambling Cluhs m London, that the Countess of Dudley, knowing her son to have been fleeced at the gamhlii g hell, m Park Place, endeavoured to induce the police to take action. She failed to do so, however, and she then applied to Mr H. Matthews, Home Secretary, to have the Club closed, the result m the latter instance being th&t the police were compelled to take action. Three members of the Carlton Club were among those arrested when the raids were made by the police.
