SOUTH RAKAIA SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The usual monthly meeting was held In the Library on Monday evening. Present — Msirs Hardy (Chairman), Harvey, Dowling, Shannon, 0. Dixoo, J. Llddy, and Oxley-
Mrs Sturgoßß* tender for cleaning the sohool at £17 10j per annum was aoo&pted. The sub-Uommltiee appointed at the last meeting to report on the buildings and sohool grounds brought up their report, which was adopted. The master's report was read ; he oom* plained of tbe non attendanoe of some ohildren. The average attendance for the past month was 162 No. on roll, 214 ; highest attendanoe 176.
Messrs Hardy, Dowling and Oxley were appointed to carry out the recommendations of the Ojmmlttae.
It wis resolved to call for tenders for grubbing tha broom out of the plantations. The Inspector's report for April 2nd was read. It was considered a very satisfactory one. Mr Woods was the Inspector It was resolved to purohase a football for the boys and something for the girls. It was resolved after considerable discussion that the whole Committee aot as a Visiting Committee and visit the school as often as possible, and that a visitors book be kept at tbe school. The meeting then adjourned ,
