THIS ST. BATHAN'S FIRE

j DuNEDtw, May 2. The fire at St. Bathan's destroyed MoOono- > i chic's drapery stores 4 and stable and Thurslows Vuloan hotel. The fire commenced on Mor Oonoohie's premises and spread to the hotel, 1 from which some furniture was saved. In--3 suranoes — MoOonoohie's building and stock, > I New Zealand £325, Victoria £250, Northern , £25, South British £25, Guardian £550, , Livetpool and London and Globe £500, Phoaj nix £500, North German £250 ; total, £2550; Only a few days ago the Equitable Aasooiation ] declined to renew a line of £300 on the pre* t raises on aooount of the rate. Mr MoConoohie had a heavy stook, and it is estimated that he will lose £4000 over the insurances. The ; Vuloan hotel was insured for £600 with the ' Standard, but the risk was re-inßured with the 1 Union and Colonial, eaoh of the offices named 1 holding risks to the amount of £200. j
