NEW SOUTH WALES.
Sydney. April 8. The merchants and shippers of Newcastle have resolved m favor of a fortnightly service between San Francisco and Australia.
Heavy rain naa fallen generally throughout the colony. The drought m the Western districts has fairly broken up, and a good winter lambing is expected, also good winter feed. The rain has had the effect of opening the Darling River (which had partially closed through drought) to navigation, and large stocks of wool which had been detained" m the interior will now be brought down the river for transhipment to market.
