On the next d*y he raur dered a woman who refused to g ye him assistance, and shot two other men dead who interfered, tie subsequently murdered and senoatjly worm led several pilgrims, one of whose hauda he cat off. He tden snot the mm dead. The polios now considered ie time to interfere, and suooeeded m arresting Natha, who was sen tencad to five years, imprisonment and ordered to pay 20,000 rupees for his misdeeds. The inadequate punishment waß brought under the notice of the Commissioner for the dintriot, who rightly refused to sanctioa Bach a judgment, and for the safety of the inhabitants of the distriot it is to be hoped the law which Nathu has so fearfully outiaged will be fully vindioated.
