FATAL ACCIDENT IN A MINE
»■ (fir pjbbss association.) ! ■ Ho-OTisA, Maroh 6. A man named Robert J. Smith bus*-. tamed a fatal acoldent ln a shaft today. While engaged prospecting near tbe loop line deceased and mate fonnd the rope nsed too short and borrowed one from a neighbor. Fhe mate thought the rope not s'rong enough, but Smith resolved to try It,. When down 60 :t the rope broke, and the unfortunate man fell the remaining 50ft - tn the bottom and was very much Injured. He was got out after some time, but died whilst being oonveyed to the hospital.
