An adjourned publio meeting to conalder what ateps should be taken for the representation of the Aubburton district at the New Zealand Jubilee Exhibition, was hold at the Borough Council Chamber* yesterday afternoon. Mr Ztndee and himself had conducted a partial canvass q! the town, and had obtained about £dO, and he was of opinion that a oonaldeiahle sum could be collected, Mr Lawrence had been engaged to take photographs of standing crops. In SjU about 21 views, 16in by 9Q(q, had been taken. Tbe Committee bow wanted to get specimen sheaves and samples of grain, The latter might be safely left m the hands of the local grain merchants, but they would have to communloate with the farmers to get sheaves. They would also called specimens of wool, building stone, lime, brloks and tiles., woollen goods, flax, coal, etc It would be advisable to compile for the official handbook of tbe Exhibition a description of the county and its reaonroes, and statistics relating to the grain production. He would like it to go forth to the farmers that If any o( them had any grain or wool they thought worthy of being exhibited they should communicate with the Committee. Toe reception and storage here of exhibits was an item which would have to be arranged, also the appointment of some one to receive the exhibits In Danedln and have them properly displayed. Mr Walker mentioned that the Seoretary of the Ohriatohuroh Committee was willing to attend m Ashbarton and give any information that might be desired. It was decided to invite the Christohnroh Secretary to attend the next meeting of the Committee In Ashbnrton, the date of meeting to be fixed so as to suit all parties,
