At the meeting of the Obaritable Aid Bo&'d held In Ohrlttohuroh yesterday the following report was read : — ♦• Oatdoor relief was afforded to 495 different oases within tha united district, la the month of January. 1889 ; m the corresponding month of 1830, 459 ; Increase 44 ; bat as oompated with the month of Deoember the number 1b 13 less, 508 esses havlni? been assisted la the last month of 1888. There was 39 oases to January, which had ; not beeu relieved m Deoember, whilst 52 helped In December did not reour m January. During a period of three months (Nov. 1, 1888, to J*n. 31, 1889) 529 different asses were relieved m srtme I form or other ; acd oat of this total, the: reoords show thai men, either for themselves or lndlreofcly— being regarded as primarily responsible for the maintenance of their f«mlllfls— wee reolplents is no fewer than 241 Instances, and may be olassified thns : -Unable to work ( 'ld age, Infirmity, sickness, acoldent), 123; Imprisoned or lunatio, 16; deaarters, 31; able to work 71 Out of the 71 Bet down as able to work, and to whom a labor test m'ght have been applied, 36 were aotually required to work, and 22 did so; 4 got rations and did not oomplete the work; 10 did none at all In return ; and the other 35 were not requited to work, some of them being already partly employed or socking work away from home, or earning at best insufficient to keep their families without assistance. Snoh inmates of the Armagh street Depflt as were considered eligible for- admission to the Qaeen's Jubilee Memorial Home, have recently been tranferred to the new Institution, whilst the remainder are now granted out* door relief, or the ohlldren have been placed m the LytteUon Orphanage. The Female Eefago has a present eight Inmates with their infants."
