(ReeeWed January 3. 1 10 p.m ) MblboUßkk, January 2 The most disastrous floods which hare been experienced since 1854 .took pltffee at Castlemaine yesterday afternoon and night. A portion of the bridge was swept through the town. All the railway bridges from Castlemaine to Chewton hare been destroyed, and damage to property is enormous. Rail way traffic has been suspended. Mrs Matthews, who m her endearors to •Toid the rush of water, got on a table with her youngest child, oxer-balanced, and both were drowned. Two miners, named O'Connor and Dennis, were drowned owing to the Francis Ormond i mine flooding. Aduaidb. January 2. The weather has broken up, and throughout the colony severe floods hare occurred. Great damage has been done, and inter-colonial railway communication is suspended.
