After 2 o'olook, however, it oleared up and it was warm and pleasant. . ; Fat Oattle.— There was a large entry and tho quality was good. Prime ox, beef is maintaining its prioo, and there is a marked improvement m all kinds. . Nearly every head entered sold at 18s to 20a per lOOlbs for prime ox carcases, and some prime heifers from the Lincoln distriot fetohed well up to ,16a per lOOIbs. .-..." ■• Store Gattlh.— -Three or four useful lines of ohoioe heifers and stgers ohanged hands at an adyanoe on previous sales, and there was a spirited competition for this 'class of atook. Some, well trained dairy cows fetohed good prices, from £4 5i to £51756 d being pro* onred for good sorts. Messrs Bennetts Bros: ' cold for various olienta a line of fiftQen*month old steers at 82s 6d; 2-year-old ateera at £8 ; eighteen-montha-old heifers at 34a lOd; three, year-old heifers at £3 17s 6d ; two-year-old heifers at £1 17s 6d ; 17 heifers, the same age, at £2 ; a few. store cows, dry, at £4. Fat Sheep.— Over 5000 were yarded, and though there wbb no 'direct purohaße made for freezing, buyers are watobing the market, and anything of ; good quality realises prices equal to former quotations. The presence of one or two Bouthern buyers has given some* what of a stimulus to local pprohaiera. There was no notioeable alteration m the price of really prime mutton, but anything of a deoidediy second rate oharaoter suffered « ( drop of from 6d to Is per head: Store Sheep —There was a small entry ol good quality. Prioes were uhohanged. '.. Lambs.— There was a nioe supply of lambs, and those of good quality sold well from 69 6d to9s9d. ■ • . Pigs,— The demand for store pigs was m exoess of supply, and everything with any pretension to breeding realised a good prioe; Porkers were scarcer, and the price may be quoted at 3Jd for prime.
