THE FISHERIES DISPUTE.
Washington, January 24.
In the Senate to-day a bill was passed empowering the President to take measures for the protection of American fishermen. In the debate on the question several speakers made violent attacks on the British Government, and threatened war with EngUnd if tbe seizure of American fishing vessels by the Canadian Government were continued.
