(By Telegraph.) Auckland, To-day. McKelvie, who attempted to murder Steward on Thursday last, has not yet been captured. He was seen entering Titirangi bush, about 15 miles from here, last night. About a dozen constables are in pursuit. Later. News has just reached town that this morning Mounted Conatable Kelly and Detective Hughes caught sight of McKelvie near the old Whau Blockhouse, and pursued him McKelvie seeing capture inevitable shot himself with a revolver.
Further intelligence is to hand regard
ing McKolvie’a suicide. Detective Hughes and Mounted-Constable Kelly had been hunting for him all yesterday and last night. This morning they gut on his track and pursued him to the vicinity of an old blockhouse, about eight miles from here, but when they were within 150 yards of him he disappeared into some scrub, and immediately after they heard a shot fired. They subsequently found him quite dead with a bullet wound in his head. His body is now being brought to town.
