LOWER HEATHCOTE SCHOOL SCANDAL.
[by TELEGRAPH.] [from OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Christchurch, To-day. An official enquiry was held yesterday morning, before Dr. Giles, R.M., at the Lower Heathcote school, into tpe circumstances that led to the dismissal by the School Committee of the Rev. G. Wilks, the late head-master of the school. The reason alleged for the dismissal was that the rev, gentleman had spread malicious reports about respecting Mr Davis, Chairman of the School Committee. The inquiry terminated at noon to-day, Dr, Giles intimated that he would send in his report to the Government, and no doubt the Board of Education would learn the result in due time.
