Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday Afternoon.

Mr Alfred Harrison reports for the week as follows:—rWednesday, June-28. I held a sale at my rooms for John Hawdon, Esq., when I disposed of his household furniture, etc., as follows : Piano, L 59 ; dining-room suite, I. 28; drawing-room suite, L2O; bedroom suite, LIS los ; sideboard, LiS ; dining table, L 9 JOS : occasional tables, Ls 15s and 1,7 ios; also bedsteads and bedding, and a large quantity of really good furniture at satisfactory prices, including gentleman’s saddle, 1.7; ladies’ saddle, 1,7 10s. On Thursday, June 29, I sold, at Methven. stock, furniture, and sundries, A fair amount was sold, but the attendance was not large. On Friday, June 30, I held a sale of limber, tools, etc., the property of the late Mr Geo. Compton, when all lots offered were sold at good prices. On Saturday, July 1, I held my weekly sale at my yards. There was a large entry in horses, a fair proportion changing hands ; also one cow. Not a single pig was penned, the cause being that prices cannot be obtained for them ; however, good carcases sold well. Fowls, is yd to 2s lid per pair; ducks, 3s nd to 4s gd per pain Implements slow of sale; light cart and tilt, Lro 12s 6d ; set harness, 1.3. Carcase, pork, Sjf’d to per lb ; rabbits, gd to is per pair. Potatoes, 50s per ton ; carrots, 30s to 403 per ton ; oats, 3s ; chick wheat, 3s to 3s 6d. Cheese, 5d to Tea, 21s. A large quantity of drapery sold well. The attendance was veiy fair, and a moderate sale found for most entries.

Bullock reports for the week ending July Ist—Horse Market: At the B.izaar, Burnett street, on Saturday, there was about the usual attendance of country settlers and others, but very few draught horses were entered. The entries for the day were 18, out of which I sold 8 at the following prices, viz:—Medium draughts, Lio to Liß ; inferior ditto, L 4 15s to Ly 10s ; hacks and light harness horses, L 4 to L 5 ros ; scrubbers, a few changed hands at very low prices. Dray, harness, etc, at satisfactory prices. - Landed Property : I held a sale at the Bazaar on Saturday of suburban allotments, improved farms, and other properties, including the Alford Brewery. For improved farms, there were no buyers, and the same remark applies to the brewery. I sold suburban allotments at the following prices: Lot 28, known as part of Mrs M‘Lean’s land, and fenced on one side, brought L2O ros ; lot 23, in Wm. Dawson’s estate, situated in the Allenton suburban district, Lio 10s ; lot 7, in the same district, nearer the Alford Forest road, part of block known as Alison Smith’s, L 9 10s. I also offered 15 Town Hall shares in Hay T. Smith’s estate, which realised 25s each. ■
