[per reoxer’s agency.] Smallpox Matters. Melbourne, Yesterday. Another case of, sickness has occurred on board the P. and O. steamship Mirzaport. The disease is suspected to be smallpox, but the doctors are unable to pronounce definitely until it is further developed. Six of the Mirzapore’s passengers have been landed to-day at the quarantine station. This includes all who are now ill or sickening. The Geelong Cup.

A syndicate has been formed hero with the view of undertaking the construction of the southern portion of the transcontinental Queensland railway. The Totalisator Declared Illegal. Melbourne, To-day.
The proprietor of a totalisator and nineteen others were arrested yesterday on Geelong racecourse for using an illegal instrument for gaming.
