Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday afternoon. Mr Alfred Harrison reports his weekly Bale as follows :—Saturday, Jan. 14: A number of draughts and hacks were entered, but in most cases owners’ reserves were too high; however, a fair proportion changed hands to the satisfaction of owners. A large number of pigs were penned, every lot being sold at a slight improvement on last week’s prices. Produce. —New potatoes, Id per lb ; wheat, 2s 6dper bushel ; barley, 2a per bushel ; cheese, 4d per lb. A large quantity of harness, furniture, and effects and sundries sold well, the attendance at the sale being very good for this season of the year.
