[per reutbr’s agency.] Thorpe’s Case. Melbourne, Yesterday. Thorpe, late teller of the Bank of Victoria, was to-day sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for embezzlement. He was recommended by the jury to mercy on account of the great laxity which had prevailed in the conduct of the Bank’s business. The “Argus” on Thorpe’s Case. Melbourne, To-day. The Argus to-day publishes a leading article, in which revelations are made regarding the business of the Bank ot Victoria during the progress of Thorpe’s trial. The proceedings are characterised as a scandal.
