SAFETY OF THE BRIG FIREFLY.

(by telegraph.) Christchurch, To-day. Captain Cleary, of the Emperor, reports that on July 10, when about 17 mile* this side of Cape Tprawhiti, he passed a brig which corresponded in rig and general description to the brig Firefly, reported by telegram as missing. The rig of the Firefly is uncommon, and the boatswain of the Emperor is almost sure that the Teasel seen was her. She had all sail set, so was not disabled in any way.
