ABOLITION OF THE LAW OF ENTAIL.

To thb Editor.

Sib, —Seeing the law against entail has passed, or is likely to pass, in our Parliament, I would like to know how it will affect the Church (as it is termed). I think it is- high time the broad acres in their possession' werA disentailed for the good of the community, which, I suppose, is the object of the Act. There may be an argument brought forward that this is a Church of England settlement; but since it has proved a failure in that respect, seeing the majority of us did not come here under the banner of any particular religion, I should like to see a fair discussion on this important matter, as it is bound to come to pass sooner or later, —l am, Ac., J. C. Ashburton, July 20,1881.
