ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

A man named Shrimpton attempted to commit suicide tbis.morning by cutting his arm with a penknife. He had been employed at Quill’s Hotel as bookkeeper for a short time back, and was found at McKenzie’s Hotel with a severe gash in his arm and a large pool of blood round him. Dr Murdoch was quickly in'attendance, and bound up the arm. The man is in a very weak state but is expected to recover. We understand that the temporary aberration of the unfortunate man was due to disappointment at not obtaining work over-exciting his brain. We learn that he was lately in business in Dunedin, where his wife and family reside.
