TERRIBLE FIRE IN QUEBEC.
One Thousand Houses Burned. [by cable.] London, June 9. Telegrams have been received from Quebec, Canada, announcing that a most destructive fire has occurred in that city. It broke out in a thicklypopulated part, and spread with great rapidity to several blocks of houses, all efforts to allay its progress being for some time without avail. The conflagration raged for severrl hours with great severity, but was finally extinguished. It is stated that fully one thousand houses have been completely destroyed. It is not yet known whether any loss of life has occurred.
