Txte Barnacles. —lf rumor speaks truly, says an exchange, the United States have suffered more than England from the pensions abuse. It is said that there are 250,000 pensioners, drawing L 5,000,000 a year from the public Treasury, and that the country loses about L 1,000,000 a year by payment of fraudulent pensions. If this is correct barnacles, would seem quite as ready to gather on the hull of the good ship Republic as on that of the old Great Britain.
