They ran round in the same order until nearing the trainers’ stand, where Progress improved his position and came away through the crowd, winning easily, four lengths in front of Strathearn, who also made his way rapidly through the horses at the finish. Wandering Jew made a good third, half a length behind Strathearn, but only beating Richmond at the winning post by a head. Wellington followed closely, and finished a good fifth at The Jew’s girth, with Braidwood, The Pontiff, Gunild, Hesperian, Major, and Templar close behind. Time—3min 36 8-iosec.
