It is understood that Mr I. Watt will be transferred to Oamaru, consequent on Mr Parker’s retirement on a pension. Looking AfterJ the Fair Sex.
At the City Court this morning, two informations, under The Employment of Females Act, were heard. In one case the defendants were fined in a nominal penalty. In the other, the defendant, a sewing machine agent, employed a girl to do fancy work. Mr Macdermott contended the case did not come within the meaning of the Act, and the Bench having a doubt on the point, dismissed the case.
