EARLY SPORTSMEN (?).

To the Editor. Sir, —A great deal of argument is taking place in regard to the opening of the duck season. Now, although lam a candidale for the open season, I like to see fair play. By that I mean that it is not right for a few eager sportsmen (excuse the name), to shoot over the Ashburton river bed, as I heai-d some doing last Sunday, thus getting “ pot ” shots at the young ducks. Hoping you will grant space in your valuable paper for this, I am, &c., Duckling.
