(Per Press Association.) Stranding of the Mohaka. Blenheim, To-day. Further enquiries into the stranding of the Mohaka commenced this morning, before Mr MTntyre, R.M. , and Captains Cross, and Lambton, Nautical Assessors. At the request of Mr Sinclair, who appeared on behalf of the Marine Department, the master and mate were called in by the Court, and informed that the charges about to be brought against them might result in cancelling their certificates. If they were desirous of having time or counsel to enter into a defence, they should say so. They stated they did not require time. Mr Sinclair submitted that the mate was guilty of gross carelessness and incompetent in going to the helm, and leaving the vessel in charge of a steward and seaman. Bankrupts. Dunedin, To-day. Three new insolvencies have been filed this week including McGill and Forrest, contractors. Dunedin, McGill’s liabilities are L11,2G0; assets, L 8.782. Forrest’s liabilities are L 11,590 ; assets, L 9,250.
