When the bell rang for the first race there were about 3,000 persona present on the course. The first event on the programme was the Handicap Hurdle Race, of 80 sovs. The second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stakes. -Two miles and a distance, over 10 flights of hurdles, 3ft 6in high.
