(Per Press Association.) Fires. Wellington, To-day. A fire occurred Te Oreore, Masterton, on Tuesday morning, by which two reaping and binding machines, the property of Thompson and Co., were destroyed. The machines were in a shed, to which was attached a stable, in which the fire originated. It is believed the machines were insured. It is supposed the fire was the result of incendiarism. Nelson, To-day. A. fire broke out this morning in the shop occupied by C. Webb, bootmaker, Hardy street. The flames had a good hold when discovered, and the building was totally destx-oyed. It was insured in the South British for Ll5O. Fatal Colliery Accident. Westport, To-day. A man named Hewitt, aged twenty-four, was killed in the'Colliery Company’s mine yesterday, by a block of coal, which he was heaving out, falling on him. His body was not discovered for some hours after the accident happened.
