At the Supreme Court this morning, sentences were given as follows :■ —Joim Watson, attempted suicide, discharged on his own recognizance of LlO, and one surety of LlO, to keep the peace for twelve months ; Achun Leitch, receiving stolen property, one month ; Ellison, alias Thompson, two charges of larceny, two years and one year, to run concurrently ; David Collins, horse stealing, one year ; John Gumming, forgeiy, throe years ; George W. Garratt, larceny, not guilty. Appointment. Colonel Leckic has been appointed Licensing Commissioner, rice Mr. Kebidl, resigned. A Police Superintendent Damaged. Nelson, To-day.
Air. Acheson, the Superintendent of Police, whilst getting off the tram car last night before it had quite stopped, fell, breaking his left arm above the elbow. The fracture is a bad one, but his medical adviser says lie will be able to resume duties shortly.
