(by telegraph.) Wellington, June 7. A private telegram received in town, states that a serious accident has occurred at the Westport Colliery. Damage to the extent of LI,OOO is said to have been caused, and one telegram being sent to the Company’s head office at Dunedin, a reply was sent ordering the works to be stopped at once, until the scene of accident had been inspected, and necessary stops taken in the matter.
