Mr F. W. Brearey, the hon. secretary of the Aeronautical Society of Great Britain, recently stated, in a paper on “ The Present State of the Science of Aeronautics,” that the conditions of flight by means of aerial machines were pretty well understood; there now remained only the mechanical difficulties, and how far those difficulties could be minimised could only be determined by experiment.
