Advice from America.— ln ploughing it is never a good plan to turn up a mass of crude earth of several inches in depth never before exposed to the sunlight and air. It will, unless a heavy manuring is given as a top dressing, result in loss. In deepening the soil it is better to plough up an additional inch each year. lowa has 100 creameries or butter factories in operation this season. A bold bad man at Meriden, Connecticut, kissed four young ladies in the same house, and was afterwards killed by a brick thrown from the window by one of the girls, while he was passing by on the pavement.
