Taranaki. I gave him an order on Watt's of Wanganui, for a bag of flour, 100 lbs; and 20 lbs. of sugar. After leaving this chief, I came up to Mr. Robertson's to spend the night. After breakfast with Capt. Robertson, crossed the Manawatu about 7, dried the horses, and got under way about 8. The road from the crossing-place to the beach is good; and the beach is of a beautiful hard description of sand that does not seem to change in character, as many of of the beaches about the west coast do. Met a large party of Ngatiruanui natives returning from a road on which they were employed.
