P.W. Office. Wednesday. (no date.) Dear Mr. McLean, I trust you will not forget what you told me on Tuesday evening. I had hoped that in my present hopeless state that Mr. Ormond would have given me a small gratuity from P.W. Department; but I fear he has changed his mind towards me; and if such is the case, I can only now trust to your old promises. I have avoided troubling anyone since I lost my appointment. Yours faithfully, (Signed) Edward L. Gillies.
