Letter from F.G. Steward to Donald McLean dated 7th. March (no year date) New Plymouth 7th. March (no year date) My dear McLean, The Governor will be much obliged if you will come at once to this place, if your health permits it; and this letter will secure you a passage in the steamer with the Troops. As yet no blow has been struck, but it might occur at any time. In the meantime we endeavour to allay popular fear, and I need not tell you to check a similar feeling with whomever you meet. An Express takes this to Wellington with an order for the Company there, to come up without delay. In haste, very truly yours, (Signed) F.G. Steward. To:- Donald McLean Esq.
