Te Aute, Nov.20, 1866 My dear Mr. Maclean I see by the paper that the Sturt may be expected shortly but had not yet arrived. In the mean time I am anxious to see the Bishop who may probably be coming here on Thursday. Unless I hear from you that there is a necessity for more speedy movement, I purpose going to Napier on Friday morning to be in readiness. What a wise movement that is of the Defence Minister to disband Macdonalds Defence force. We sadly want the right man in the right place at a time when it is felt that the natives are contemplating serious mischief, and nobody can tell in what quarter a treacherous blow may be dealt. Hoping to see you on Friday I remain, Most faithfully yours, W. Waiapu
