Wellington. 4 Decr. 1872. My dear Sir, As it is now finally settled about Mr. Cooper resuming his former Office of Native Under Secretary, I hope you will favourably consider my application to be allowed to draw the difference between my salary, and that hitherto attached to the higher appointments from the 1 July to the 30 November last. The amount applied for is not more than £1.13.4, but it would be important to me in computing the pension to which under the existing Act, I shall be entitled after the completion of 26 years service on the 18th. June next. Awaiting your favourable reply, I remain My dear Sir, Faithfully Yours, H. Halse. To: D. McLean Esq.
