Napier June 22nd. 1872. Dear Sir, I send you, enclosed, a Report of the proceedings of the late Meeting here; and also a private copy of Mr. Russell's letter to Karaitiana. About 23 members of the Club have signed a request for Mr. Russell to resign, on account of ungentlemanly conduct; and the Secretary has written to him accordingly. Should he decline to exercise his option of resigning, he will be expelled. I am now looking through your Titles, and will speak to W. Kinross about getting the signature of the natives at Rangitikei, (Pirimoana Te Umu and Te Pake Paihau), to the leases of Ngatarawa Blocks 1 and 3. It is by no means safe to allow any more time to pass by without getting their signatures. Mr. Russell is studying most of the Native Titles in this Province, and difficulties will be sure to ensue. I am, Sir, Yours obediently (Signed) Hanson Turton. To:- The Honourable Donald McLean AUCKLAND.
