Wangui Moana 20th, July/53 My dear Sir, I hear that the Governor and you are coming up to Wairarapa soon, and I write to offer His Excellency and yourself such accomodation as we can afford you in our present transition state. We shall do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible and you could invite the Natives to meet you here, if you think that would be convenient. My brother has not yet come forward, but I am hourly expecting him. I hope he will be here when His Excellency and you are in the valley, as probably he can be of some use to you in the course of the Negotiations. I was sorry to hear you have been like myself very unlucky in horseflesh lately. You know, I suppose that I lost two out of my five. Write me a few lines to say when we may expect you up here, if you have an opportunity. I remain, My dear Sir, Very truly yours, H. R. Russell.
