you know any really good hand that you could recommend for such an office -if a fit person could be found I have no doubt but that the salary would soon be raised - Whilst I fill the office of Superintendent - I am most anxious that I shall have as little office work to do as possible seeing that I intend only to give 2 or 3 hours every day to public affairs as no inducement could be offered me to give up the fast increasing and profitable business I am at present engaged in - and for which reason I would take no salary that would imply an obligation of attending wholely to public affairs - if you could help me in this matter by recommending some one well used to official work and of good character and standing I would feel much obliged - We are looking for the ''White Swan'' every hour and presume that the reason of her detention is on acct. of the Easter festivities - When may be expect a visit from you?
