Onehunga Monday Nov. 12th./60. My dear McLean, In returning home on Thursday evening when with a few yards of my own gate my mare slipped and fell and in attempting to recover her footing trod upon my foot severely bruising and spraining my ancle. I have not been able to put my foot to the ground since and fear it may be some days before I shall be able to do so. I hoped at first that I should be able to move about after a couple of days lying up but find I cannot endure any other but a horizontal position. If you can send me anything which I can attend to here I shall be very glad as I am quite sure from present sensations I shall have some days longer acquainted with the sofa. I enlcose corrected proof for the Judge's pamphlet and am Dr. McLean, Sincerely yours, Thos. H. Smith.
