Turanganui Nov. 21, 1866 My dear Sir I have to acknowledge your letter of Nov. 6, and to thank you for the enclosures. I am very glad to hear that there is a prospect of our having the overland mail again for our means of communication with other parts of the country are very uncertain just now. We shall be very glad to see you when you do come this way and I hope that you will be empowered to make some definite arrangement with reference to Hauhau lands etc. It is a great pity that the matter has been delayed so long for were the land question settled I expect that we should soon be in a position to set the Hauhaus at defiance. We are expecting the Bishop to pay us a visit now by every vessel that comes. He did think of coming by the Steamer which passed this way on the 14th inst. but I think he must have altered his plans. I hope the Wairarapa Hauhaus will think better of their idea of paying you a visit. The Omarunui fight cannot afford them any encouragement. I remain, Yours very truly W. L. Williams
