Auckland October 3/70 My dear McLean, Thanks for your note - There is nothing new here - The Luna I hope will leave about Saturday. The Governor detains her two days with a cursed journey to Waiuku. He takes Gillies with him. I'm very dissatisfied about it - he asked me to go with him, but not to advise whether he should go - Do you know anything about it. What about Captain Carey - is he to be kept on - there is nothing for the old man to do - We have a chance of getting Boardman back again - He is a very good officer and Pollen wants a clerk. What a pity that so much information leaks out at Hawkes Bay. I thought it better not to publish about Te Kooti being supposed to be on the move again - but I see it has run through the Colony from Napier. Does Ormond think it wise that these things should be known - He is better able to judge than I am. When the Luna comes here you should write me what you wish about her and I will see your wishes carried out. I am very anxious to learn the English news - Mrs. Vogel unites with me in kind regards Yrs. most truly Julius Vogel
