New Zealand Government House Auckland July 18, 1871 My dear McLean, At last the "Luna" is to get off today, though the weather looks stormy. We have had very hard work to get the packing finished. I told Fairchild to put Captain and Mrs. Machell into the small cabins, and leave the large one for you. I understand there are 3 Napier ladies, friends of yours, who will get out at Napier, and meanwhile keep your cabin warm for you. I hope the "Luna" will not be detained anywhere longer than can be helped, and that she will be at the Manukau to bring us down by the 31st of this month or thereabouts. It is desirable that we should be settled at Wellington before the Session begins. I know of nothing new here - Yours very truly, G. F. Bowen The HonbleD. McLean C.M.G.
