Mission House, April 29th, 1847. Sir, I beg to enclose for your information the copy of a note wh. I have recd. from Mr.W.Carrington respecting the disputed portion of the Mission property, and of my reply thereto. From these communications you will perceive that the case, at length, has been brought to a satisfactory adjustment, by the exchange of lands formerly proposed. May I therefore request of you to submit this final arrangement to the approval of his Excellency the Governor, that it may be properly marked out on the Map, and a Grant issued for the same, direct from the Crown, to the Wesleyan Missionary Society, in accordance with Mr. Commissioner Spains recommendation. Sir, I beg to inform you that in compliance with the request of his Excellency the Governor, I have effected the following arrangement with the Rangikapuoho and his son Ngarongomate respecting the piece of Land belonging to them, and lately in the occupation of Mr.Loveridge. They consent to give up the above-mentioned piece of land, to the Wesleyan Missionary Society: in return they are to retain the Pa Te ringa Mango, and to receive back from the Society the North Western half of a Section, numbered "9" on the Map. Sir, I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 23rd inst., informing me of the arrangement which you have made with te Rangi kapuao, and his son Ngarongomate, in reference to that portion of the Mission Station which has been so long in dispute, and wh lies to the S.E. of the creek called 'Mangotuku", and comprising about 15 acres of land. In reply to that communication, I have to inform you, that, on behalf of the Wesleyan Missionary Society, I accede to the above-mentioned arrangement: Viz, That the portion of land alluded to, do revert to the Mission, with the exception of the Pa called te "Ringamango" situate upon it, and that in lieu of the same, the North Western half of a section numbered "9" on the Map, and which was awarded to the Society by Captain Fitzroy, be henceforth surrendered to the use and occupation of te Rangikapuao. A copy of this arrangement, I shall forward to the Inspector of Police, that it may be submitted to the approval and ratification of his Excellency the Governor.
